A Night at the Drive-In

There are events you attend, and then there are experiences you step into. This year's Summer 2026 Paddock Feature Showcase at StarBase firmly belonged in the second category. For one evening, the venue traded its everyday identity for something straight out of Hollywood, transforming into a nostalgic drive-in where movie magic came to life with automotive culture.

From the moment guests arrived, every detail invited them into the story: the glow of marquee-style lighting; the soundtrack of iconic movie hits drifting through the venue; the unmistakable scent of fresh popcorn in the air. And, of course, a cast of legendary movie cars waiting for their close-up.

The opening scene began right at the entrance. Guests were welcomed with fresh popcorn from a vintage-inspired concession cart, instantly transporting everyone back to evenings spent beneath the stars at their neighborhood drive-in. Nearby, FWR Rental Haus transformed the front lounge into a retro diner complete with classic seating, chrome accents, and nostalgic details that felt lifted straight from a 1950s roadside café. Parked alongside the lounge sat a Shelby Cobra as a nod to Ford v Ferrari, offering guests their first glimpse that this wasn't going to be an ordinary car show.

After check-in, bubbly was poured from StarBase's signature chrome moped while greeters, dressed in paper boat hats and vintage-inspired attire, welcomed guests as though they were arriving for a Hollywood premiere. It was neither forced nor overproduced. It genuinely felt like everyone had stepped onto the set of their favorite summer movie.

Food and beverage understood the assignment as supporting characters worthy of top billing. Petrol Head served two custom cocktails appropriately named the Fast Cocktail and the Furious Cocktail, while multiple culinary experiences ensured every guest had something to enjoy throughout the evening. Guests holding complimentary “matinee” tickets discovered that there was still plenty to experience from concessions and cocktails to movie cars, entertainment, and immersive activations. Meanwhile, “blockbuster” ticket holders were treated to an elevated hospitality experience featuring an incredible spread curated by Chef Benny, giving VIP guests another memorable reason to linger before exploring everything the showcase had to offer.

As conversations filled the venue, roaming concession attendants wandered through the crowd delivering classic movie snacks before surprising guests later in the evening with a frozen treat that was especially welcoming on a warm summer night. Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for. Hosts Taylor Goodyear of Social Exchange Group and Tyler Gallo of Das Erbe Collective welcomed the crowd before inviting everyone deeper into StarBase, where the evening revealed its feature presentation.

Behind the doors sat a temporary automotive gallery unlike anything guests expected. It felt less like an auto showcase and more like walking through Hollywood's own prop department.

"Seeing these vehicles is a treat in itself. Now putting them all under one roof is the WOW factor, and adding so much social value through hospitality and immersive experiences is exactly why we host this showcase twice a year at StarBase," shared StarBase Venue Director Melissa "Dot" Desrameaux.

Every vehicle had been thoughtfully sourced by Das Erbe Collective through Paddock Auto Club's incredible network alongside the passionate Gears & Grinds community. Rather than assembling an impressive collection of cars, they curated a cast of characters. Moonwalk welcomed guests with the legendary DeLorean DMC-12 from Back to the Future, forever parked somewhere between yesterday and tomorrow.

The Space Age Room became home to the unmistakable Landspeeder from Star Wars, appropriately occupying nearly half the room as though it had just arrived from a galaxy far, far away.

Guests also swarmed around Eleanor from Gone in 60 Seconds, the Ford Interceptor from Mad Max, the sleek Ferrari Testarossa from Miami Vice, and the beautiful Shelby Cobra from Ford v Ferrari. Then there was the undeniable star of the show.

Standing proudly as the evening's centerpiece was the iconic Adam West Batmobile. One of only six ever built—and with one famously selling for more than $4.6 million—it immediately became one of the night's most photographed attractions. Seeing the Batmobile alone is remarkable. Seeing it surrounded by some of cinema's most recognizable vehicles made the experience iconic.

“Mark Wahlberg said Vegas is Hollywood 2.0 and I figured why not demonstrate it with what we’re passionate about, automotive heritage,” Gallo mentioned after stepping out of the Batmobile.

The experience continued to unfold around every corner. Nearby, DJ Copay spun vinyl records packed with iconic movie soundtracks that felt nostalgic without ever feeling predictable, giving the entire evening its own unforgettable score.

Throughout the night, Neon Photo Booth invited guests to pose with FWR Rental Haus' Carny Bus, a vintage Volkswagen parked beside a glowing 10-foot neon cactus. The nostalgic setup quickly became one of the night's favorite photo opportunities.

Before the credits rolled, Tyler Gallo took center stage one last time to thank the incredible partners, sponsors, and guests who helped make the evening possible. Then, just when everyone thought the concessions had delivered their final scene, a cart came through the crowd delivering one more treat, classic ice cream favorites. It was a sweet ending to a night that felt like summer at the movies.

That was the real magic of the Drive-In Showcase; and we appreciated how every detail worked together to create something bigger than itself. Every activation, every conversation, every photo opportunity, every bite, and every surprise became another scene in a story guests were invited to step into. For one evening, StarBase stopped feeling like an event venue and became a movie set while everyone who walked through its doors became part of the cast.

When all was said and done and the credits began to roll, one thing was undeniable: experiences like these don't happen by accident. They're brought to life by an incredible cast of collaborators whose creativity and generosity shape every scene. A special thank you to Wrap Star, Asset Appeal, Amazon Key, Tequila Corrido and the many partners, sponsors, volunteers, and enthusiasts who helped turn the Drive-in Showcase into the summer's biggest blockbuster.

Roll credits.
